R&E Goering Farm
The Goering Farm is owned and operated by Ryan and Eugene Goering, and is located in McPherson County approximately three miles west of Moundridge, KS. Both Ryan and his father, Eugene, want to demonstrate ways to use water more efficiently as well as address the water quality issues they encounter on the farm. With the cooperation of many local irrigation companies, the Goering family is able to conduct this new technology farm with very little funding assistance.
Technology
For the 2020 growing season the farm will include a corn and soybean rotation for the next few years. The pivot spans will implement Komet Twisters, Senninger Bubblers, Xi-Wobs, and precision mobile drip irrigation (PMDI). The pivot system will also utilize a new Autonomous system not yet seen on any other technology farm. Servitech soil moisture probes, a Farmers Edge weather station and aerial imagery will also be used this season. To help battle soil quality concerns, Bactifeed treatment will be tested on approximately 10 acres of land. The farm expanded for the 2020 season to include some farm ground that is equipped with sub-surface drip irrigation (SDI). They also plan to incorporate a weather station and more soil moisture probes for further research.
